Hi

I am a student realizing a internship. I was asked to Size a small portable heat exchanger to heat in-line Nitrogen using In-Line water Vapor. I have not done any calculations yet. but just thinking about it, i think the size of the heat exchanger will be too large to be portable. The purpose of heating the nitrogen is use it on tanks, to help drying them of humidity in a fast way. I have been looking for ideas on internet and there are some products to connect to the gas line so it can be heated to certain temperatures. But this type of equipment is not portable and exceeds by far the needed temperatures. I was thinking about heating the nitrogen to some 70-100 C.

Any Comment or ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks.

A "hand made" small exchanger fastened on a wheel barrow (similar to those used for cupboard or compressed gas "bottle" transfer) could be a solution. Attached phe.xls may be a starting point, although several data is arbitrary. Even a ~71 kg exchanger with wheel barrow may be difficult to lift up (from ground) for movement; if so a smaller exchanger can be constructed.
