Dear All,

I am trying to recover 900lb/h steam back in to the condensate system and re-feed it to the heater. The steam quality is 600F at 190psi pressure is super heated steam. To recover steam as a liquid phase what type of equipment should I use. A steam trap or A flash Tank. My client has a boiler feed water at 250F at 15psi. Can i also use a feed tank before the heater and combine this steam stream together with the boiler feed water and feed the stream to heater?

In advance, I thank you for your response

Kybele:

I presume that the boiler feed water is at 250 F at 15 psiG. (I wish intelligent and graduated engineers would recognize how silly and confusing it is to use incorrect pressure units that do not reflect the accurate conditions) If so, then the water is SATURATED. That means that you will create saturated steam should you add more energy (the superheat) to the already saturated liquid water – therefore, your basis for “recover steam as a liquid phase” is erroneous and won’t work.

For such a small flow rate of superheated steam you probably can’t justify a small steam turbine to generate useful work or electricity and a condensed steam. Is that correct?

Therefore, all that is left is for you to use a condenser (either water or air-cooled) to condense the superheated steam and pump the condensed product into your boiler feedwater system.

Make it simple. You can use the a condenser to collect the condensate and then combine it with the boiler feed water. But need to check the quality of condensate and also boiler feed water from time to time. Other wise, the corrosion and scaling will be developed in the boiler tubes.

Dear All,

Thank you very much for the answers.

Mr. Montemayor, I apologize not to using Gin my post. It is not acceptable I knew it. I first put the G there but later for some reason I erased it. I can understand your frustration on the G. And thank you for your inputs.

Mr. Alzack, thanks. They do not have condensate system as far as I understood from the plant people. I have only BFW to use.I will consider corrosion issue.
