Hello Aditya,
- Downcomer Backup flooding_Aerated liquid backed up into the downcomer because of increased tray pressure drop or liquid height. When this backup exceeds the tray spacing, liquid accumulates on the tray above, causing downcomer flooding. Can be checked either by increasing Tray spacing or Pressure drop
- Downcomer Choke flooding is mainly function of downcomer geometry- DC top area / bubbling area. May occur when downcomer is not properly sized for vapor disengagement.
