Foam and froth regime are extremely similar in distillation especially on sieve trays.
Froth regime is a continuous phase of liquid that sits on the tray, the vapor is then dispersed as bubbles within the liquid form below the tray.
Foam is just a higher velocity of liquid and vapor causing a more volitile reaction.
Think of it as fairy liquid the more you add and the quicker you stir the foamier it becomes.
