Hi,

Could someone please recommend a good book for basic equipment sizing and selection? I'll like a book that has sizing of pressure relief valves, control valves, steam traps, knockout drums etc. Thanks

Y

Consiglere,

The Gas Processors Asociation (GPA) in the USA publishes a two volume Handbook which gives design and sizing methods for a lot of process engineering equipment - but it is expensive. You can try googling GPA.
For relief valves, refer to API RP 520 parts 1 and 2.
For control valves, the valve suppliers publish their own sizing methods free of charge.
Likewise for steam traps.
For knockout drums you need a textbook which deals with gas-liquid separation. The chapter in the GPA Handbook is adequate for an introduction.

Then, "....etc". What do you include here? Compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, furnaces, columns - that's a whole degree course.

Good luck
Paul

You should look for "Coulson and Richardson's Chemical Engineering Volume 6" (Chemical Engineering Design), it's very complete and you should be able to find what you're looking for.
