Dear All,

I need information about the "Ultra-Low Pressure Reverse Osmosis (ULPRO)" process. As I know the reverse osmosis process need to high operating pressure. I want to know how this process can run in the Ultra-Low pressure condition. Would you please tell me about this process and its membrane?

Indeed, google can provide a lot of information on ULPRO (some of it is not free). I had a brief look at them, since a company (I worked for in the past) installed RO plants in Greek islands to produce potable water from sea. Required pressure on RO Dupond membranes at that time (1987-91) was about 60 Barg. ULPRO seems to require a much lower pressure, probably 6 Barg, but no reference have been found for sea water desalination. ULPRO looks suitable for cleaning waste waters from harmful traces of organics, organic carbon, nitrogen compounds (NO3, NH4+), heavy metals.
Nevertheless these are first impressions only. A systematic survey of the relevant Web data can guide to an assessment of this new method of ULPRO.
