i have to simulate waste water treatment plant i.e neutralization of waste water that has 6 kg/hr of NaOH with carbondioxide in flue gases..i tried simulating it on hysys but failed to converge it..the given compositions and conditions are set in inlet streams..the absorbtion and reaction are occuring in the same column.can any body help me simulating it..i tried doing it and my try is attachedAttached File  WASTE WATER TREATMENT with flue gases.zip   46.08KB   220 downloads

Hysys does not have electrolyte package required to simulate such neutralization process. Use Chemcad or Aspen Plus and Electrolyte NRTL fluid package to simulate this type of process.

I agree. For a simple system, AspenPlus ELECNTRL will work (if you license Aspen Properties, it may be available in the latest versions of HYSYS). For more complex electrolyte models, you need the OLI simulator (which can be obtained as an add-in for HYSYS, Unisim or AspenPlus.

thanks for your replies
as u suggested i tried simulating a similiar kind of problem in aspen plus but the calculation type should be rate based which i failed to change from equilibrium to rate based..it shows an error that calculation type can not be converted to rate base unless rate sep is enabled & dont know how to enable it..also the steams in setup are not converged dont know whats the problem with them...help me sorting out these issues..i am attachind the pdf file of the problem as well as simulated one in aspen that is in zip folder

The latest version of HYSYS V7.2 or V7.3 has elec NRTL and that should be used. You do not need any special license for Aspen Properties either.
