Hi,
When I calculated the minimum reflux ratio from Mc Cabe Thiele method and Underwood equation, I got negative value. Please suggest how to find optimum reflux ratio in this type of situation.

Thanks,

Ashok

Thank you Breizh.

I used the Underwood equation to calculate minimum reflux ratio for a 3 component mixture [formula taken from Unit operations of chemical engineering, Mc Cabe Smith], but the value of minimum reflux ratio [(L/D)min + 1] is -0.68. Now, Rmin = (L/D)min = -0.68-1 = -1.68. How can I proceed further to calculate value of Rmin..?
