Hi all,

I was asked a question today and it made me think. Take a process line handling a liquid. It has various pieces of instrumentation along, e.g. ball valves, ESD valves, PCV's, NRV's etc. In this scenario the line is to be re-used in a different service with flow going in the opposite direction.

When assessing if this is feasible, you obviously have to consider various factors such as material compatability, DP/DT's, HP / LP interfaces etc. One thing I'm not sure about though is the instrumentation! Can an NRV simply be 'turned around' and re-issued? Similarly, would ESD valves, PCV's, isolation valves etc also have to be 'turned around'? If so, is this a big job, e.g. how long would it take?

I assume ball valves, e.g. as part of a double block and bleed arrangement would't need to be modified?

Apologies if this is a silly question, it's just something I've never had to consider!

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
