I am trying to give a rough estimation of my designed distillation column overall efficiency and i came across this correlation by O'Connell.
http://www.separatio.../DT_Chp04p1.htm
I was wondering if it is applicable for a gas feed as well (i.e. using gas viscosity for the calculations)? Because when i place the viscosity into the equation my efficiency reaches 111%.
Details for feed:
Temp=107.4C, P=200kPa (vapor phase)
Mol Fraction
Ethane: 0.0203
Benzene: 0.9513 (Light Key)
Toluene: 0.0271 (Heavy Key)
Xylene: 0.0014
HYSYS provided viscosity:
9.818e-3 cP
