Hi all, I just wanted to ask for help regarding rotary dryer design.

I am having confusion on the application of Fourier's Law on insulation for rotary dryers.
The "Q" in the equation - is it the heat loss (due to some inefficiencies)? or is it the heat "Q" brought by heating air (heat to be transferred to solids)? I am just confused as when I use the Q as heat loss for calculation I get a large insulation thickness (about 4 m..that doesn't seem to be realistic, I use K=3.11W/mK for insulator).

I also wanted to ask for common insulation materials used for rotary driers, I may actually solve this problem if I use a different and lower K (conductivity). Please help  and Thank you in advance.
