All,

Currently i design an enclosed flare. The facilities is located in the middle of water territorial. Therefore, the environment become a significant issue regarding neighbor people’s concerns. One of the concerns is flame visibility when using existing flare stack. Therefore, our client intends to install enclosed flare. The flare is planned for long term period (10-15 years).

The plant is oil facilities with future capacity up to 5,000 BOPD, 24 MMSCFD gas (including 11.7 MMSCFD for gas lift), and 5,500 BWPD. The remaining gas is planned to be sold in future. However, while client looking for buyer, the gas will be flared continuously to this new enclosed flare. Meanwhile, this enclosed flare will contain liquid up to 1000 BPD only during drilling operation (for about 2 years). The composition of gas and oil are attached.

We design the enclosed flare with refractory wall because the wall cannot be located far away from flare since the liquid is not burnt by atomizer. Instead, it will be burnt directly also in enclosed flare. For your information, we have limitation in space availability of Tiaka land. We already design the dimension of enclosed flare, which is 16 m diameter x 6 m height. In other words, we design this enclosed flare adapted from Burning Pit and Enclosed Ground Flare design. Therefore, the flare tip for liquid and gas is separated. The gas flare tip is located above the seal water level, while the liquid flare is located on seal water level.

To ensure that the combustion is complete, we should provide sufficient air by blower (forced draft) or air damper (natural draft). The problem is the location where the blower or air damper is installed, especially when there are liquid in earthen enclosed flare. Also, concerning the flare burner, I got some references stating that the flare burner should be flare staged type before entering the enclosed flare. Could you give us recommendation for what kind of flare burner, pilot and tip that is most applicable or available in this case?

Thank you for your attention.
