ı have to design a fixed bed reactor but it should be in laboratory scales which means it will be very small. but ı don't know how much small will it be and where can ı find the scales for the reactor! and also what kind of equipment ı need to make it. ı saw many people have such a project about FBR but ı guess not in laboratory scales but anyway anything that you think help me please send my e-mail or just tell me where can ı find such info. about this! ı hope someone help me! this is really urgent thanks..

Puppel:
I get the impression you are confounded by the scope of your assignment. It seems to be a very simple and direct assignment and should be no problem – if you use your common sense and concentrate on the basic requirements to accomplish what you have been assigned. Let me list how you should attack the problem:
1. Of course you don’t know how small the reactor is – you haven’t sized it yet! First, state and look at your given data – which should include the expected production capacity of the reactor. That is one of the primary factors that will determine the size.
2.Do not be concerned with the “scales”. I don’t see why you should be worrying about the scale-up when you haven’t sized the unit yet. Concentrate on determining the size required and its specific dimensions.
3. I don’t understand what you mean by “what kind of equipment ı need to make it”. You make a reactor out of MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION – not out of equipment. Please be clear and accurate when you describe what you are thinking. If you don’t communicate well as an engineer, you will result in a poor and backward engineer and misunderstood by others.
4. Always write and communicate your thoughts clearly and accurately. Your sentence structure is atrocious and you don’t employ accepted and correct written script. Your failure to employ clear and correct writing leads to bad and erroneous communication – which results in a failure to obtain help from others.
I’ll await your reply in correct and understandable writing.

hi art montenayor!
I am really thankful for yor help and advices. first of all I should say that ı all agree about power of comminication and importances of identify a problem in clear and certain way. but thats all because of my poor english
i will try to explain my problem clearly.
I know that ı can't know how small my reactor will be before any calculation but there is no given data
here is what my professor told me " design a FBR in laboratory scales " thats all. As a first step I worked on general structure of a fixed bed reactor and design equations. now ı have to decide my reactor size. (the reactor is not for a sepesific reaction. it will be for gas phase. and for sure heterogeneous reaction because of catalyst.) The only clue I have the professor told me that these kind of reactors which is made for laboratories are generally have the smiliar or same sizes. I guess I just have to find a avarge reactor size and figure out why they are in that size. for example (ı am making up ) the lenght of the reactor is 20 cm because thats the perfect size to prevent pressure drop also like ı choose smallest pieces of catalyst bc ....
I hope I could make myself clearer ( I have suspicious about that
) Really thank you for help ..
