I am sizing a pc pump for water with 1000ppm oil. This pump is at the water outlet of the test separator. The flow range is 30 to 90 m3/hr.
My question is that as a pc pump is a rotary pump can I use centrifugal pump sizing calculation for the pc pump.
Can anyonekindly send a pc pump sizing calculation if available.

Look forward to your valued advice.
Thanks a ton

Go to the manufacturers website. You can find some with google. Robbins is a good place to start. Since it is positive displacement, you have to vary the speed or recycle to vary capacity.

Hi Bobby,

A VSD will be used to vary speed.

I wanted to know if a valid process calculation for pc pump sizing is readily available or we can use a centrifugal pump sizing calculations instead as both are rotary pumps.

Many thanks for your response

Regards

Prashant

Prashant,
The progressive cavity pump is positive displacment whereas a centrifugal pump is dynamic. So their characteristicts are not similar at all. You will likely find that the pc pump is much more efficient, but the manufacturer will have the information you need. And, pay attention to NPSHR for the pc pump.
