Hi,

I am supposed to design / manufacture an Inline heater for the below Process.

Fluid : Fuel Oil, Flow Rate : 10 m3/hr, delta t 60 degrees centigrade. Design Pressure 8 kg/cm2. specific gravity 0.9 g/cc , cp 0.5 cal/g/c

I require around 320 KW x 1.2 = 384 KW. I will keep the watt density between 0.9 -1.1 W/cm2

Now my problem is how much time is required by the fluid to pick up heat from 40 degrees to 100 degrees, or what should be the minimum length of the vessel for the fluid to pick up heat to reach the desired temperature.

What are the important factors while designing the heater for this purpose. velocity, pressure drop etc.

Thanks and Regards,

Nishant

PS: Rough sketch of heater attached.
