Dawood,

Solid Sludge removal from oil pit bottom is usually done manually by dredging equipment after emptying the pit. A vacuum truck may also be employed for sucking out the sludge slurry once the oily liquid is removed.

Employing vacuum trucks to suck out sludge slurry has been seen by self for many small oily water pits.

Regards,

Ankur.

For large quantity, Dredge with a cut head is used to extract the sludge from the pit. Sludge can be transferred by the pipeline.

Dawood,

considering pit as open pit

empty out pit by pheanumatic pump with flexible suction hose, remaining sedimented sludge strip out by steaming to remove hydrocarbon, keep it for atmosphieric drying, purge out pit with air, sludge can be dradge and collect to any one corner of the pit from out side and taken out later, provide confinespace entry with all safety precausion and personal protective eqiupment to remove sludge manually,

Thank you all for the helping ideas.

The Oil Pit basically contains Liquird at the top and as u move down it becomes thicker and thicker. at the bottom is Solid, which is the most difficult thing to extract. we can conclud on two ways:

  • If I use a suction pump to suck all the oil slurry at the top of the pit, the remaining solid needs to be extracted by some other source either a dredger or
  • one can homogenize the pit first and suck everything altogether using pumps.

but these are conventional means, isn't there any new research on the technique for extraction from Oil Pit using latest/innovative means? can someone help me on that?

For Informaition:

the sludge from oil field pit is very sticky and Using a dredger is not that effecient because when dreger scoops up the sludge from the pit, while releasing the sluge using a dredger it still get sticked to the Dreger grabber. this is the real problem that needs attention.

Please provide suggestions

Thanks
Regards
Dawood
