There are two type of LPG availble 1)Sweet LPG from MEROX unit 2)Hydrotreated LPG from reformer/platformer.

what is the main difference between these LPG with respect to specifications?

is we process MEROX LPG to Hydrogen generation unit ? (as HGU has CO-MO CATALYST) Currently we only process Hytrotrated LPG from reformer...

Furthermore I know the one difference that disulphide removal is only done in hydrotraring process....Can you please elobrate some more details.........

Thanks.

Merox LPG will contain more sulfur than hydrotreated LPG.

If the Merox LPG is from an FCC unit (or thermal cracking) then it will moreover contain unsaturates (propylene, butylenes).

In the HGU the sulfur in LPG affects the hydrotreating reactor as well as the downstream ZnO bed.

Unsaturates in the LPG also affect the hydrotreating reactor in the HGU.

Whether your HGU can handle the Merox LPG is a question you best ask the HGU licensor.

LPG used as feed in Hydrogen manufacturing unit should always be devoid of cracked unsaturated compounds as pointed out by ping pong.

Hydrotreated LPG also requires to be treated in Amine Absorption unit and subsequently in Merox unit for removal of Mercaptans and H2S. In refinery as I have seen, all LPG from CDU, FCC, DHDS, VGOHDT, DCU gets diverted to amine regeneration unit and then treated subsequently in Merox for mercaptans removal (offcourse unsaturated (from DCU, FCC) and .saturated LPG (CDU, HDT etc)are treated separately though).

CS2 from LPG is oftem removed by MEA also. However, the question was not very clear. If it is disulphide oil, it is a product from LPG Merox process.

As you said, i think hydrotrated LPG does not required further treatment because this LPG is already free of impurites which generally remove in MEROX/amine treating unit.

My question is very clear that ,is any major diference between MEROX LPG and Hydrotreated LPG with respect to product specification.or we get the same spec from both units??
