Dear All,

  • A vessel is operating at low pressure 0,1 barg with liquid storage purpose with H2S content.
  • Level bridle vent line is connected to LP Flare with a check valve on vapor line.
  • Vessel vapor line is connected to closed system through pressure control valve. Split range controller is maintaining vessel pressure.
  • Due to presence of check valve, Client has requested to delete vent line to LP flare and put N2 hose to drain out level bridle content during its flushing stage.

My query is as follows:

Can we connect level bridle vent line to vessel vapor outlet line before its outlet pressure control valve so that N2 hose connection is avoided ?

Thanks.

Regards.

Without a detailed schematic drawing or a P&ID, it is not possible to accurately comment on what is the proper way to pipe up a level instrument.  If the query is important enough for you to seek help, it should be important enough to generate a good, detailed engineering sketch or copy of a P&ID.

I recommend you do either of the above so our members can help or assist you in an accurate and correct manner.

Hi Art,

Please refer attached a simplified sketch of the system.

Client has asked to delete LG vent line to flare and connect a N2 hose.

But my question could we connect LG vent line[ point A] to vessel vapor outlet line[ point B] instead of having a N2 hose connection ? Are there any issues?

Thanks.

Regards.

chem2013,

Client suggestion as "to delete vent line to LP flare and put N2 hose to drain out..." appears not to be due to presence of the check valve in mentioned vent line but is due to provision of a utility connection (here N2) to be able to drain out LG content during flushing stage; hence connecting such vent line to vessel vapor outlet will remove using utility connection facility for flushing and cannot be reasonable...
