Hello experts,
In one of our cooling water system there are many exchanger and more-or-less everywhere the Cooling water is adequately supplied.
But in one exchanger, there is high flow going and because of this there is very less flow in the one of the other exchanger.
Moreover, there are butterfly valves for the isolation of exchangers and if we throttle it to restrict flow there is vibration observed.
Hence, we are thinking of inserting orifice plate to restrict flow in the exchanger.
I have few question pertaining to this.
1) Are there any installation criteria for restricted orifice because as such there is not sufficient straight length available at upstream or downstream of exchanger
2) How do i get into sizing of this orifice and on what basis should it be sized.
Regards,
