greetings fellas!!

i am on placement at a fertiliser granulation plant.the problem that we are facing is that of tremendous build-up in the rotary dryer that more often than not we have to stop the dryer and cleean at the discharge end.i have since measured the slope of the unit and it is at a critically low angle of 3 degrees and i am of the idea that increased residence time with respect to material is the root cause to this problem .what might be the problem in your own view and may you please advise me on the best way to measure the retention/residence time in the dryer considering the sticky nature inside it?note that this is a fuel-fired dryer unit and the set temperatures are being adhered to successfully.in addition what is the recommended angle /slope in most fertiliser granulation plants?please assist.

thanking you in advance for the enlightenment!!
