Attached File  priming pump.jpg   90.94KB   0 downloadsi need the advise for sizing the priming system for the pump (the pump configuration as attached)
What is the total estimated non-flooded suction volume that needs to be filled with water?
What is the maximum estimated elevation difference from the water source to the top of the pumps?
What is the estimated time required for the prime to be established?

Thanks in advance

Hi ,

No attachment.

How do you intend to prime the pump? Priming pot or ejector?

Hope you have installed a foot valve and a net to prevent debris to enter the suction line.

The volume concerned is the suction line, from the net to the pump suction.

A google search will help you, key words Priming pot.

BTW, did you consider a self-priming pump or an immersed pump?

Note: No need to highlight your post, it's considered not very respectful.

What is the total estimated non-flooded suction volume that needs to be filled with water?\

Not applicable
What is the maximum estimated elevation difference from the water source to the top of the pumps?

This is the result of NPSHA and intake design
What is the estimated time required for the prime to be established?

In your case - immidiatelly

Poor design. An operating team will need a vacuum source to evacuate the air pocket and avoid cavitation or losing of priming.

See ANSI/HI 9 sections 6.1, 6.6, 8 for details.

Note that there are other industry standards/practices for pump piping.

Note that self-priming is an issue - you should review and implement one of applicable start-up methods for this pump.
