What is the advantage of using Condensate Pot instead of steam trap ?
Also why is there a Level Controller on the condensate valve which gets signal from condensate pot level and reboiler level?

What is the advantage of using Condensate Pot instead of steam trap ?
A condensate pot maintains a liquid level indicator with a control valve and may be seen as more reliable than a mechanical steam trap. It may also allow setting the condensate level in the heat exchanger to purposely cover a portion of the tubes to reduce the active heat transfer area available for the steam which might be useful if the exchanger is oversized and the steam chest pressure tends to operate toward the vacuum region. A condensate pot level would be easier to monitor and alarm for abnormal operation.

Also why is there a Level Controller on the condensate valve which gets signal from condensate pot level and reboiler level?
The condensate valve serves to keep steam from blowing through by maintaining a positive condensate level. There may normally be some slight difference between reboiler level and condensate level and it may be that this is a critical service requiring redundant measurements to identify malfunctions.

The configuration you describe is not the usual control for reboilers. This response offers generic answers which I hope may be useful to you.

Hi,

A few documents to read/to study to support your work and to add to Pilesar's reply. Thermosiphon is a touchy piece of equipment which needs a lot of attention during operation, from the quality of the steam to the heat transfer area, the heat flux, the feed rate, etc.

Thanks to Pilesar for his   explanation.

Good luck,

Breizh
