Hi,

I was wondering how to start my design the first unit operation being a condenser to turn one gas into a liquid then using a gas-liquid separator to separate the components in the gas and liquid phase.

How do i start the design calculations.

And is there any design calculation excel spreadsheets I can use as a guidance

Kind Regards,

Hi,

What do you mean?

" using a gas-liquid separator to separate the components in the gas and liquid phase".

A sketch will certainly help to understand your query.

do you wish to solve from a thermodynamic point of view (i.e. solve a flash operation with specified enthalpy which provides the vapor + liquid at outlet) or try to simulate real units calculating heat transfer coefficients, separator efficiency etc. ? You can manage both cases with spreadsheets, I use the free version of Prode Prode Properties (www.prode.com) as thermo library , it includes some examples and you can add /expand features if required...
