Please help.
how does a centrifugal pump operate i terms of:

1 recirculation
2 suction line
3 flow rate
4 how does the level in the vessel affect the pump
5 how does pressure affect the pump and how can it be controlled
6 how does temperature affect the pump

thanks in advance

Mmole:

You previously claimed you were operating a wax plant. But you post your queries in the Student forum. Are you a student? If so, what is your academic background – how many courses have you taken? You don’t furnish a profile so we don’t know just where you are coming from and how to address your queries.

For example, you ask “how does a centrifugal pump operate i terms of” and list a litany of operations without qualifying just what you mean by them. The question is typical of one straight out of a text book or a homework problem. Did you originate the question or did someone else?

1. recirculation
What is mean by “recirculation”? recirculation around what – the pump? A tank? A process?

2. suction line
all pumps have to have a suction line; otherwise they can’t pump! What is the purpose or intent of this question. It sounds like an academic, theoretical question intended to stimulate discussion or thought – but very illogical.

3. flow rate
A pump creates a flow – this is another illogical or non-sensical question.

4. how does the level in the vessel affect the pump
If the pump pumps liquid out of a tank (which you haven’t identified) it is obvious that the level will decrease!

5. how does pressure affect the pump and how can it be controlled
What pressure – suction pressure or discharge pressure? Or process pressure downstream? Be specific and identify what it is you mean.

6. how does temperature affect the pump
Again, what specific temperature? And do you mean the temperature of the fluid? Or perhaps of the pump bearings?

Please help – with some clear and well-thought out questions.

Mmole,

When i first read your posting...i don't really catch what you want to know, how you think, which level you are, etc...And it end-up with no reply.

Mr. Montemayor responded you has surprised me and made me read his response (infact i read all his responses which have been written in English)...YOU ARE LUCKY GUY.

"how does a centrifugal pump operate i terms of recirculation ?"
"how does a centrifugal pump operate i terms of suction line ?"
"how does a centrifugal pump operate i terms of flow rate ?"
"how does a centrifugal pump operate i terms of how does the level in the vessel affect the pump ?"

Can you please read your post again ? Do you understand what you want to know ?

If you are from non-English community like myself, i am sorry to say...please restructure your sentence by using simple words...

My only answer is get a Pump Handbook and understanding the basic...

GOOD LUCK

Those questions look/sound basic. You can get the answers directly from books like:
Sulzer Centrifugal Pump Handbook and Perrys Chemical Engineering Handbook as well.
You might want to learn the importance of NPSH towards centrifugal pump later on.
Good luck.

it seems you are not familiar with pump much. its not a bad thing to ask any type of question which comes in your mind. But the selection of word is vary important, because no one read your mind if you can't give him true picture? just give forum members a little idea so you get good response. To make your mind clear I suggest you to study,
API Operational manual of Centrifugal Pump one can easily understand the basic from there. Easily available in university library.
Beside this

best of luck
