hi friends
we require passivation of heater tubes ( austenitic steel) and reactor shell and internals during shutdown. it says that equipment should be passivated as soon as possible( with in 2-3 hrs). i want to know what are the methods use by which we can passivate the heater tubes and reactor inner shell at the earliest as spraying from outside and filling of the shell take longer time. what are the standard practices in industries?

Hi,
if the purpose of "the passivation" is to protect the equipment against SCC that could happen during shutdown, the only standard that I know is NACE RP 0170
