Dear All
We dilute fine particle slurry (in HC solvent) from about 10g/l concentration to about 5 g/l by batch process. I was thinking of making this process continuous using Static Mixers. As per the literature available on the net these mixers work very well for liquid mixing. I could not get any information on application of these mixers for slurry handling. Hope members can advise suitability of these mixers for handling dilute slurry (av. particle size about 100micron)
Warm Regards
Bhattu

10 g/l is not that high a concentration. Unless this slurry has unusual rheological properties, I think that static mixers would be suitable for the task of diluting to 5 g/l.

My suggestion is to contact the Chemineer and/or Lightnin mixer vendors. The Kenics is an old tried and truc static mixer by Chemineer that will probably get the job done. Either of these vendors can easily design the mixer you need and have it to you within weeks. They are also willing to sign confidentiality agreements. The design is free. Hope this helps.
