Hi all,
I am in desperate need of expert guidance. I am designing a scrubber/absorber for HCL and SO2 removal. I want to use a lime slurry for this purpose but am confused as to which type of slurry to use, CaCO3 or Ca(OH)2?? Also once i have decided upon the type of slurry, do i use a packed or plate column ( i have seen both types used in industry)? I guess plate would be more appropriate as this would prevent clogging problems associated with packed absorbers. How do i go about designing the absorber in terms of height and diameter? I have looked at several sources with varying success but i am not sure which equations to use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as university tutors are not very forthcoming with advice
