Dear All,

What are the advantages of Water cooled reciprocating air compressor compared to Air cooled reciprocating air compressor?

When we have to choose for Water cooled air compressor from Air cooled air compressor?

What will be the difference in efficiency, Duty cycle, Life, Quality & Power consumption between Water cooled and Air cooled compressor?

Thanks for suggesting me.

Gve

Hello everybody:

GVe, you can make a Google search under "Water cooled compressors vs air cooled compressors" and surely, you would fine a lot of information.

Good luck!

There is no really easy nswer it depends on your situation.

My situation recently where I have to specify a 10000W recirculation chiller (vapour compression) where the compressor is typically the weakest point. Long and short is that the water cooled chiller was more expensive (both operation and capital) but operated for a longer lifetime.

My main concern however was reducing water usage and since I do not have the possibility to recirculate cold water say through a cooling tower the air cooled chiller was specified.

Usually when there is ample atmospheric space and ambient temperatures around the 20C mark I see no real reason to specify water cooled. However there are other factors.
