How to simulate liquid ring vapor compressor in HYSYS. Which type of the compressor(centrifugal or reciprocating) is used to simulate liquid ring vapor compressor. How to run the compressor with liquid.

Find the attachment . Forget about compressor warning( Liquid ring pump)Liquid in feed inlet.Doesnt matter Reciprocating or centrifugal in steady state, waht matters is your compressor efficiency .

Dear satish,

Thanks for your response.
In the attached PFD shows only recycling liquid (liquid separated from the wet gas). I don’t see any separate liquid inlet(source) to the compressor in your attached PFD. But in our project there is one separate liquid inlet which joins with gas inlet to the compressor (scheme same as attached). Could you tell me how much liquid flow rate required for the compressor and how to calculate the liquid flow rate.

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Lokesh

Dear Lokesh ,

Inlet liquid you are talikng about is the make-up liquid , Since there would be continuous liquid losses from the loop (either through drains or purging) we need to provide a continuous liquid inlet may be through separator inlet , any way take a purge from a suitable location ( outlet liquid ), Initially I have given the basic idea of doing it ( Not in detail ), You can add those two streams , but flowrates will not be that significant (In Actual simulation you must maintain both make up & purge flows same ), coming to flow rate calculation I donot have much experience in that area , so please do search literaure and or if you are in a company where you have to manufacture liquid ring pumps then go through your manuals/ calculation and sizing procedures .

Good luck
