I have just recently started up 3 TEG Dehydration Units in a Gas Plant and have just noticed the color is getting dark on the unit which has been running for 5 months. Is this an indication of hydrocarbon saturation? I have increased the slip stream flow of the glycol through the Charcoal Filter to full flow from 10% flow. If I get hydrocarbons in the Reboiler I am afraid it will cause carbon to form. So what are the causes of the TEG color getting darker and what remedies from what I have already done with by increasing the flow to the Charcoal Filter?

Thanks, Jimmy

Your action is correct. How much is the differential pressure across the
filter. Is TEG getting dark over the time period or suddenly.
How frequently you are cleaning the solid filter.
Check the reboiler temperature not to exceed more than 204 DegC.

Regards.

Thanks for the response. We are changing the Charcoal Canisters and the Particulate Filters. The gycol temperature has never exceeded 380F.
