Hi All,

Will you please guide how to calculate the Random Packing characterstics like free C.S.Area/M3;Void Volume and Percent free Gas Space ?I tried to check the data in Literature of Free Surface Area by adding surface area based on ID and OD and then multiplying No. of Pcs/M3 but not got answer .(For Rashig Rings)I guess that the surface area available for Packings in M3 of Volume of column to be considered to get final answer.

Thanks for your reply. It gives data for the different Koch Packings.To more elaborate my question ,my company fabricated Pall Rings in Borosilicate Glass .I have to calculate void fraction and void volume.Please help .(Free Surface Area already calculated).

For Packing factor I decided to use Air -Water system.
Which is the favorable system?
How it corelate to other gas-liquid system?
